Hey! Mambo! Come out and play!
Mambo, a brainy and imaginative corgi, was used to spending his days alone in his suburb. All of that changed when Domingo, the impulsive, excitable, life-lovin’, braced-faced guinea pig, moved next door and became Mambo’s best friend. Encouraged by his parents to spend all his free time outside in the shared backyard, Domingo knows he’s in for a good time if he can get Mambo to join him. When they put their heads together, broken-down lawnmowers turn into pretend dinosaur races! Undistributed mulch mounds turn into epic medieval fortresses! And a simple ball can become the next World Cup competition!
While the series' plot centers around free time outdoors (something we hope to inspire more children to engage in), the series' heart centers around the friendship of two young boys who are very different but soon discover they have more in common. After all, it’s their differences that make their backyard playtime so epic!
The current children’s TV landscape is brimming with Girl Power; Mambo and Domingo serve to be a companion to this initiative by introducing Boy Intelligence. Intelligence to play. Intelligence to be emotionally expressive. Intelligence to show genuine affection to a friend. Intelligence to be curious about anything -- from bugs to outer space! Intelligence to explore their own hearts for what is right and to explore their own creativity for what is fun.
By exhibiting emotional intelligence and creative problem-solving, Mambo and Domingo will guide our boys through this changing world with the understanding that boyhood doesn’t have to come with a power struggle and friendship begets the greatest adventures of all. Even from within your own backyard.
